The foliage of the young 'Rubrum' is deep purple-red, it turns dark reddish green in summer. In autumn the leaves turn deep yellow. The yellow leaves of 'Rubrum' are insensitive to scorch during the summer. 'Rubrum' is an excellent street and park tree.
