The tree has an irregular crown. Leaves unfold in a golden yellow colour and fade into a shoft yellow-green colour. It has a striking red leaf stalk. It is scorch sensitive, especially in spring. The flowers blossom as the leaves unfold. It is a good park tree with deep roots. It is tolerant to wet and cold soils, but not to being in water for long periods. It is not sensitive to wind.
