This is a large tree with undulating crown. The leaf is deeply lobed and is 5-lobed and 5-foliate. Colour is green, with a grey white underside. The leaf stalk is red. Its autumal leaf colour is usually yellow, with some leaves turning orange or red, giving it a beautiful decorative effect. The flowers emerge before the leaves unfold. It has a shallow root system. It is tolerant to moist soil. In hard surfaces the main roots may push upwards causing damage. Its is suitable as a park tree.
