This has a round or wide pyramidal crown, creating a dark shade. Leaves are slightly shiney dark green, appearing early and remain for a long period, they turn a yellow brown colour. Flowers, blood red in colour, appear as the age reaches 8-10 years old. The root system has a main root which branches out deep into the earth. Soil should not be dry. Intolerant to asphalt surfaces, unless base area is large enough.
