Quercus robur 'Fastigiata' (Cypress Oak / Pyramid Oak)

Probably the most common cultivated form, it grows into a large columnar tree with with strongly ascending branches, attaining a height of 15-20m and a breadth of 3-4m. The trunk produces branches mainly low down and older specimens often show a somewhat pendulous crown. The fastigiate oak was originally propagated from an upright tree that was found in central Europe.
